Radio presenter Clement Manyathela has confirmed that his public dispute with Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen has been resolved, and the ban preventing Steenhuisen from appearing on his show has been lifted.

The disagreement between the two had generated significant discussion in political circles and on social media in recent weeks. Manyathela had previously barred Steenhuisen from his platform, a move that drew attention given the importance of political interviews in shaping national debate.

Listeners were divided on the issue. Some supported the broadcaster’s decision to stand his ground, while others argued that political leaders should always remain accessible to media questioning regardless of personal disagreements.

Manyathela said the two have since spoken and addressed their differences. He confirmed that the previous restriction is no longer in place.

The resolution matters for political observers because radio remains a key space for holding public figures accountable in South Africa. When major political leaders are absent from popular platforms, it leaves a gap in public discourse.

Social media users reacted to the news with a mix of relief and curiosity. Some praised both men for showing maturity, while others wondered whether the initial conflict could have been handled differently.

The episode has also renewed discussion about the role of broadcasters in holding politicians to account. Talk radio relies on tough questioning and open exchange, and this outcome suggests that engagement remains possible even after conflict.

The ban has been lifted, and Steenhuisen is once again welcome on air.
