Businessman Nkosinathi Sekeleni, brother of Dr Nandipha Magudumana, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an alleged assault in Randburg over the weekend .
Sekeleni appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 9 February 2026, alongside two other men. The trio was initially charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, but the charge was upgraded to attempted murder after the victim’s condition worsened. The victim remains hospitalised in critical condition .
According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 7 February 2026, when the suspects confronted a man they accused of attempting to rob them . SAPS spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the arrests and that the case was opened on the same day .
The three accused were released on warning, and the matter has been postponed to 20 March 2026 for further investigation .
Sekeleni is known for his public role in the Showmax documentary *Tracking Thabo Bester*, where he spoke about his sister’s relationship with convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester . Reports indicate he was paid R30,000 for his participation . He previously made headlines in 2023 after alleging he was accused of attempting to extort his sister for R100,000, which he denied .
His arrest has drawn widespread reaction on social media, with many expressing concern over the recurring legal troubles involving Magudumana’s family members .
