Wiandre Pretorius, a man linked to testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, has died by suicide.

Pretorius was named by a witness known as Witness D, who accused him of torturing and killing Emmanuel Mbhense and disposing of his body in a lake. The witness has since died.

Police have now confirmed an inquest docket has been registered after a 41-year-old man allegedly shot and killed himself at a filling station in Brakpan on Saturday, 07 February 2025.

Pretorius survived an attempted hit on Thursday before taking his own life the following night.

The Madlanga Commission is investigating allegations of crime, corruption, and political interference within the criminal justice system.
