Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament and current Power FM presenter Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has confirmed that he will be leaving the Johannesburg-based radio station to focus his efforts on the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, where he will play a leading role in the African Renaissance Podcast.

Ndlozi, who has built a reputation as a sharp political commentator, intellectual voice, and engaging media personality, said the decision marks a significant shift in his professional journey. He intends to dedicate his time and energy to promoting African thought leadership, unity, and socio-political renewal across the continent.

The African Renaissance Podcast is a flagship platform of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, aimed at advancing critical conversations on Africa’s history, politics, economics, culture, and future prospects. It draws inspiration from the African Renaissance vision popularised by former South African President Thabo Mbeki, which calls for the revival of African pride, governance excellence, and continental integration.

In confirming his departure from Power FM, Ndlozi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage South Africans through the airwaves, describing his time at the station as intellectually rewarding and impactful. As the host of PowerTalk, he became known for in-depth interviews, bold commentary, and thought-provoking discussions on national and global affairs.

Observers say Ndlozi’s move signals a strategic shift from mainstream broadcast media to a more pan-African intellectual platform, where his academic background and political experience could influence a broader continental audience. Analysts also view the decision as part of a growing trend among African public figures who are turning to podcasts and digital platforms to shape narratives outside traditional media structures.

The Thabo Mbeki Foundation welcomed Ndlozi’s involvement, noting that his voice and perspective align with the foundation’s mission to inspire Africans and promote progressive ideas. The African Renaissance Podcast is expected to feature scholars, policymakers, activists, and cultural leaders from across Africa and the diaspora.

Ndlozi’s departure from Power FM marks the end of a notable chapter in his media career, but it also opens a new phase focused on continental intellectual engagement and the promotion of African renewal.

As the African Renaissance Podcast gains momentum, Ndlozi is poised to become one of its key voices, contributing to the ongoing debate about Africa’s future and the role of its people in shaping a reborn, confident, and united continent.
