A senior police officer has told a parliamentary committee that National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has ignored reports detailing possible wrongdoing within the South African Police Service.
Captain Samuel Ramalepe testified before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating criminal infiltration and corruption in the justice system. He stated that he and other officers submitted a report to Masemola two months ago but have received no response despite repeated attempts to contact his office.
Ramalepe also expressed that whistleblowers within SAPS fear reporting corruption due to a lack of protection.
The committee is examining allegations of political influence and misconduct across law enforcement agencies. Masemola’s office has not yet publicly responded to the claims.
