The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed that convicted offender Thabo Bester has been transferred to Ebongweni Prison, a high-security facility.
The department stated that such transfers are routine and based on ongoing security risk assessments. Bester will continue to receive appropriate care in line with official policy during his time at the facility.
Bester’s legal team claimed the move was carried out without prior warning.
Department spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo clarified that Bester will retain full access to legal representation, communication with family, and court processes. He added that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure his legal proceedings continue without disruption.
