“I Thank God They Fired Me” – Linda Sibiya Claims Jealousy Drove His Ukhozi FM Exit

He now “thanks God” for the choice to end his nearly twenty-year stint at the station, veteran broadcaster Linda Sibiya said after his unexpected firing from Ukhozi FM. Sibiya asserts that his dismissal was due to jealousy among his colleagues rather than poor performance or wrongdoing. Sibiya was sacked without cause after 17 years of continuous work, according to his honest account of events. The termination, he claimed, was shocking and tragic simultaneously. After Ukhozi FM fired Sibiya, she thanked God. “Jealousy was the driving force behind what took place there.”

There was no formal engagement, warning, or disciplinary hearing prior to his termination, according to Sibiya. She builds her claim on the fact that the decision was made in a flash. Despite never having been informed that his career was in jeopardy, he remains dedicated to the station until the very end. The fact that Sibiya was willing to make major sacrifices to be employed with the public broadcaster is more evidence of his commitment to the profession.

“I loved my job so much that I even offered to work for an entire year without receiving a salary,” he stated. “I just wanted to do what I loved.” The former host claimed he intended to develop loyalty and buy time with his pitch during station internal problems. No matter what happened, his employment was apparently cut off when the offer was supposedly turned down.

In the wake of Sibiya’s comments, discussions on transparency, internal politics, and employment standards have picked back up at major media organisations. Because of his assertion that jealousy motivates people, there has been some controversy about the public radio sector’s handling of longevity and competence.

Ukhozi FM has remained silent on the subject, which has attracted public attention, even though the station has not addressed Sibiya’s accusations directly. Those who have been faithfully following Sibiya’s career for a long time can confirm this. Despite the backlash he received after being fired, Sibiya claims he has discovered calm and perspective.

In addition to his statement, he added, “When I look back, I realise that God was protecting me.” The story of Sibiya is a captivating reflection on loyalty, sacrifice, and the unspoken factors that influence decisions made by media companies. He uses Sibiya’s story as a powerful mirror as he plots his escape from Ukhozi FM.
