“The Results Speak for Themselves”: Mkhwebane Rebukes Malema’s ‘No Value’ Claim During Her EFF Time

Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, the MK Party’s Mpumalanga convener, has fired back at Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema following his allegation that she added no value during her time in the EFF, insisting that the electoral record tells a very different story.

“Apparently there was no value I added when I was with the EFF. I was the Subregional Coordinator of Elections and the outcome speaks for itself. Facts for thought,” Mkhwebane said, dismissing Malema’s remarks as detached from reality.

Mkhwebane served as the EFF’s Subregional Coordinator of Elections in Mpumalanga, a role that placed her at the centre of grassroots mobilisation, campaign coordination and voter outreach. According to her, the party’s performance during that period stands as concrete evidence of her contribution.

Under her coordination, the EFF emerged as the leading party across regions in Mpumalanga, securing 19.10% of the vote. The result marked one of the party’s strongest showings in the province at the time, consolidating its footprint in a competitive political landscape.

Her response comes amid heightened political tensions as parties reposition ahead of future electoral battles, with former allies increasingly trading public accusations. Malema’s assertion that Mkhwebane “did not add value” has been interpreted by some observers as part of broader political posturing, particularly following her departure from the EFF and subsequent alignment with the MK Party.

Political analysts note that electoral outcomes remain a key benchmark in assessing the effectiveness of party organisers, especially those tasked with election coordination. In that context, Mkhwebane’s defence leans heavily on measurable performance rather than rhetoric.

“This is not about personalities; it’s about facts and outcomes,” a source close to Mkhwebane said, adding that election results cannot be erased by political commentary.

Now serving as the MK Party’s Mpumalanga convener, Mkhwebane appears determined to reframe the narrative around her political career, emphasising delivery and results over internal party disputes. Her rebuttal underscores a growing trend among political figures to challenge leadership claims with data-driven counterarguments.

As political exchanges intensify, Mkhwebane’s message remains pointed and unambiguous: the numbers, she argues, are the ultimate judge of value.
