Snenhlanhla Nenezane Mthembu (31) went & bought petrol & burnt her boyfriend Andile Junior (24) car to ashes while she was live on Instagram. She’s in hospital due to wounds she suffered when she burnt the car. Once discharged, she will be arrested for assault & malicious damage.

A dramatic incident unfolded in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, when 31-year-old Snenhlanhla Nenezane Mthembu allegedly set her boyfriend Andile Junior’s car on fire while broadcasting the event live on Instagram. The vehicle, reportedly a 24-year-old Junior’s property, was completely destroyed in the blaze, leaving residents shocked and prompting both social media and police attention.

According to reports, Mthembu purchased petrol prior to the incident and proceeded to set the car ablaze in a public location. During the act, she streamed the event live, drawing immediate reactions from viewers. Some commenters expressed shock and concern over the escalating violence, while others raised questions about the couple’s ongoing disputes.

Mthembu suffered injuries during the incident and was promptly admitted to hospital for treatment. Sources indicate that her injuries are related to burns sustained while igniting the vehicle. Hospital officials have confirmed that she is currently under medical care and that her condition will determine the timeline for any subsequent legal proceedings.

Authorities have confirmed that once discharged from hospital, Mthembu is expected to face charges of assault and malicious damage to property. The arrest will follow standard procedures under South African criminal law, which treats destruction of property and acts of violence seriously, particularly when they pose a danger to life or public safety.

The incident has drawn public attention not only because of the dramatic nature of the events but also due to the social media aspect, highlighting the growing trend of individuals broadcasting violent acts online. Experts caution that such incidents can escalate quickly and encourage both legal consequences and public safety risks.

This event also underscores the broader issue of domestic disputes and conflict management. Reports indicate that Mthembu and Junior have a history of conflict, with previous allegations of assault and police reports filed in Umlazi. The escalation to property destruction represents a dangerous intensification of their disagreements and serves as a reminder of the risks posed by unresolved conflicts.

Police have urged couples experiencing domestic disputes to seek mediation or intervention from legal authorities rather than resorting to violence. They emphasize that acts like burning property can result in severe legal consequences, including arrest, prosecution, and potential imprisonment.

As the community awaits updates on Mthembu’s condition and the forthcoming legal proceedings, the incident has sparked conversations about social media responsibility, personal safety, and the importance of addressing domestic disputes through lawful and safe channels.
