South Africa has been rocked by shocking revelations after a hired hitman confessed to being part of a R130,000 assassination plot targeting a former ANC heavyweight. The man, who has now turned state witness, detailed how political power, greed, and betrayal led to a plan to eliminate the veteran politician.
According to court testimony, the accused revealed that he was approached by well-connected figures who promised him R130,000 for the hit. He described in chilling detail how the plan was carefully laid out from surveillance to escape routes.
The hitman reportedly backed out at the last moment, fearing the repercussions, and later decided to expose the masterminds behind the plot. Investigators say the case exposes deep divisions and deadly rivalries within certain ANC circles.
Prosecutors have confirmed that more arrests could follow as evidence piles up. South Africans have reacted with shock on social media, calling it a “movie-like political scandal.” As the case unfolds, many are asking: who really ordered the hit and why was one of the party’s own leaders marked for death?
