South Africa’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign ended in the Round of 16 after a 2-1 defeat to Cameroon at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat.
Cameroon scored in the 33rd minute through Junior Tchamadeu and doubled their lead early in the second half with a header from Christian Kofane. A late 87th-minute goal from Bafana substitute Evidence Makgopa proved only a consolation.
South Africa started strongly, creating several early chances, but failed to convert. Lyle Foster had a goal ruled offside by VAR in the 12th minute, and Relebohile Mofokeng and Samukele Kabini missed clear opportunities.
Despite consistent pressure in the second half, Bafana could not break through until Makgopa’s late strike. Cameroon held on to secure their place in the quarterfinals.
