Popular comedian and Igagasi FM radio presenter Felix Hlophe has publicly addressed a family matter that sparked widespread online discussion following an incident on 24 December 2025.

In a detailed statement released on Thursday, Hlophe confirmed that comments circulating on social media stemmed from a private family situation involving his wife, Tracy Smith-Hlophe, and one of her friends. He clarified that the matter had since been referred to his legal representatives for guidance.

According to Hlophe, his wife had accepted an invitation to spend some time away with their children, accompanied by her friend. Concerned for his family’s well-being, he later went with his mother-in-law to fetch them. What followed, he explained, was an emotionally charged encounter.

“Emotions ran high on all sides, and an unfortunate confrontation took place, including insults that were directed at my mother-in-law,” Hlophe said. “However, there was no physical violence.”

He further addressed viral video clips circulating on social media, stating that they did not reflect the full context of the incident and presented only fragments of what transpired. He confirmed that both private security and the South African Police Service were called to the scene, but no arrests were made.

Despite the public attention surrounding the matter, Hlophe emphasized that the situation had been resolved peacefully and that his family remains united.

“I can confirm that my wife and children returned home safely, and we spent Christmas together peacefully and joyfully as a family, including my mother-in-law,” he said.

The radio personality also expressed appreciation for the messages of concern and support he received from the public, colleagues, and fans during the difficult period.

“I am grateful to everyone who reached out. Everything is in order, and our family remains on good terms,” Hlophe concluded.

The statement appears aimed at dispelling speculation and reaffirming that the matter remains a private family issue, now resolved, as Hlophe continues his professional duties at Igagasi FM.
