“Why is he invested in ANC matters?” – SA reacts to Malema’s warning about Mbalula

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has voiced a strong opinion regarding the internal power struggles within the African National Congress (ANC). He believes that ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula is currently positioned to become the party’s next president, unless significant efforts are made from within the ANC to prevent this outcome. Malema stated that he has been predicting Mbalula’s increasing influence and potential rise to leadership for some time.

Malema described the race for the ANC presidency as akin to a marathon, suggesting that Mbalula is significantly ahead of other contenders. He specifically mentioned Deputy President Paul Mashatile, noting that Mashatile appears to be struggling to close the gap. “If it was a marathon, Mbalula is ahead. Paul Mashatile is trying to catch up. I don’t know how he will get there,” Malema commented, highlighting his perception of the current standings.

These remarks have generated considerable discussion online, with many people expressing surprise at the level of interest shown by leaders of other political parties in the ANC’s leadership succession. Some social media users have pointed out that both Malema and former President Jacob Zuma, who also leads his own political party, seem deeply involved in ANC matters. Questions have been raised about the reasons behind this continued focus on the ANC’s internal affairs from opposition figures.

According to some analysts, Malema’s consistent commentary on the ANC’s internal politics stems from his extensive past within the organization and his conviction that the ANC’s decisions continue to shape the broader political environment in the country. However, others suggest that his persistent attention to the ANC’s leadership contests might indicate an ongoing political rivalry and a lingering fascination with the party from which he departed over ten years ago.

“Fikile Mbalula is going to be president of the ANC if there is no serious intervention made to stop him, I warned you about this that this @MbalulaFikile if they allow him to do what he’s doing he’s going to lead them” EFF President Julius Malema
