Many called out his claims, saying, “Stop spreading lies,” and described the report as another one of his false claims. They said he was exaggerating what happened and misleading the public.
Afriforum, led by Kriel, condemned the authorities’ actions. The group said the behaviour showed little care for human rights. They also pointed out that the government still does not clearly condemn people who call for violence against Afrikaners through the “Kill the Boer” chant.
Others argued that the government was acting according to the law, saying foreign nationals working without proper papers were not allowed. Officials confirmed that some people were detained for working without visas and were issued deportation orders.
