New eyewitness accounts reveal chilling details following the murder of media personality DJ Warras, whose real name was Warrick Stock. According to witnesses, after shooting Stock outside the Zambezi Building in Johannesburg on Tuesday, the killer returned twice to look at the body lying in the street.

One witness told News24 the shooter, a man with dreadlocks, stood among the crowd watching the scene, pretending to be a bystander. “The suspect came back wearing green overalls like the other people present,” a source said. Another witness stated the man stood near journalists when they arrived.

“He came back twice pretending to be someone just watching while DJ Warras’s body was still lying there. He must be arrested,” the witness said.

The shooting occurred after a colleague met Stock outside the building that morning. As Stock walked to his car, the gunman emerged and opened fire. Stock reportedly tried to draw his own firearm but collapsed before he could. The shooter attempted to fire again but his gun jammed, after which he fled.

It has also emerged that Stock had obtained a protection order in November against two women alleged to be leading the illegal occupation of buildings in the CBD. In the court papers, he stated the women had made violent threats against him and his guards between 16-17 November.

Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety Mgcini Tshwaku confirmed he was aware of the protection order. Police continue to hunt for the suspects, who were captured on CCTV footage.
