On Monday, the KwaZulu-Natal legislature debated a motion tabled by Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, which holds 37 seats and accused Ntuli of financial mismanagement amid service breakdowns and crime.
The Government of Provincial Unity, including Ntuli’s IFP, ANC, DA, and NFP, needed 41 votes to hold; NFP’s Mbali Shinga broke ranks to vote no, prioritizing provincial progress and tipping the balance. Tensions rose with chants, a rejected secret ballot request, and scuffles, but Ntuli defended his record since June 2024.
The outcome would decide the coalition’s stability and KZN’s path forward for residents facing daily challenges.
