Co-Head Coach Cedric Kaze has been informed by the Kaizer Chiefs Football Club that he is leaving immediately. Prior to his transition into coaching, Kaze served as an interpreter for the club’s previous head coach, Nabi, who was Arthur Zwane’s predecessor. The club confirmed the split on Friday, saying that the two sides had mutually agreed to end their working relationship.

In 2024, Kaze was elevated to the position of Co-Head Coach, allowing him to divide and conquer among the technical staff. As an interpreter, Kaze played a crucial role in facilitating better communication between the coaching staff and the players. Kaizer Chiefs issued a brief statement expressing their gratitude for his services in this area. The organisation said, “We thank Cedric Kaze for his service to Kaizer Chiefs and wish him well in his future endeavours.” The departure of Kaze coincides with a club-wide reorganisation of the technical and management ranks.

The organisation has not yet announced a replacement, but insiders say management is trying to fill the position with a more seasoned coach in time for the upcoming league season. Kaze was highly esteemed for his work in assisting the team’s international and domestic players in understanding the club’s strategy and overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers.

His friendly demeanour and dedication to the team’s development as professionals have garnered praise from former teammates as well. Many in the football world have noted that the departure of Kaze is just the most recent twist in the continuously changing technical structure of the Kaizer Chiefs.

The club’s goal in trying to stay ahead of the competition in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and other international tournaments has led to frequent coaching staff changes. According to the chiefs, the split was amicable, and they want fans to know that the current technical staff will carry on with preseason training as scheduled.
