Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero will face his third motion of no confidence this week during a two-day council sitting starting Tuesday. The motion is being brought by a group of smaller political parties.
This marks the third formal attempt to remove Morero since his election last year. Previous attempts by the DA in June and a bloc of minority parties in October were unsuccessful.
The minority parties accuse the mayor of interfering in administrative functions and failing to implement city directives, which they say has worsened service delivery delays and instability in Johannesburg.
The ANC in the city has previously dismissed such accusations as politically motivated. A separate motion targeting former mayor Thapelo Amad, who now chairs a council oversight committee, is also expected.
