Former South African International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor has had her United States visa revoked. Pandor, who now chairs the Nelson Mandela Foundation, stated she was notified of the decision via email from the US Consulate this week, though no reason was provided.
The former minister, who retired from politics in 2024, had been granted a multiple-entry visa and recently returned from a trip to the US. The US Consulate has not yet commented on the matter.
In recent public addresses, Pandor has referred to Nelson Mandela as a “troublemaker” in the context of advocating for justice and has criticized the current state of US democracy, arguing it has become an “irritation” and a “threat to the rest of the world.”
