The Afrika Mayibuye Movement is hosting a fundraising gala where a seat at the table with its leader, Floyd Shivambu, costs R2 million. The event, scheduled for November 28 in Midrand, offers various ticket packages ranging from R10,000 to R1.5 million for a seat with the party’s deputy president.
This fundraising method is common in South African politics. In 2023, the EFF sold a seat with its leader Julius Malema for R1.2 million.
The party states that the proceeds will fund its First National Convention in December 2025. The convention aims to bring together delegates from across the country to refine the party’s foundational documents and action plan. The party says the gala is intended to unite business leaders and activists in an effort to promote ethical leadership and economic justice.
