Cedrick Nkabinde, the former chief of staff to suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, has testified that he arranged two meetings between the minister and an associate, Brown Mogotsi.

Nkabinde appeared before a parliamentary committee investigating allegations of corruption and political interference. He stated that Mchunu asked him to contact Mogotsi to discuss the situation around trapped illegal miners in Stilfontein in the North West province.

According to his testimony, Nkabinde facilitated one meeting at Mchunu’s official residence where Mogotsi arrived with several other people. He said a second planned meeting did not take place. Nkabinde emphasized that he was not present in the meetings and only knew Mogotsi through the process of arranging the discussions.

The testimony is part of an ongoing inquiry into the conduct of the suspended minister and his alleged connections within the criminal justice system.
