Shivambu: Mayibuye Stands Alone – ‘We Are the Only Party Untainted by the Madlanga Commission’

According to the Afrika Mayibuye Movement, they are the sole South African political party that has no connections to anyone who is involved with, or could be involved with, the current Madlanga Commission. The movement has a distinct moral standing in the national conversation on corruption and political accountability, according to Party President Floyd Nyiko Shivambu, because it has no dirty hands.

In his remarks before to his appearances before the Commission, Shivambu reiterated the organization’s complete support for its Head of Legal Affairs, who had earlier held the position as Head of the Hawks in Gauteng. In the days ahead, he is anticipated to present his findings to the Commission. Truth does not terrify us. Nobody has ever managed to capture, co-opt, or compromise us—we’re the only formation like that.

As Shivambu stressed, our legal head will not lie or take credit for any easy wins while there. The former head of the Hawks province is expected to give high-level testimony regarding the role of political patronage in undermining state institutions over the last decade and the existence of deep-seated corruption networks. The Commission, according to Shivambu, should serve as a national accountability reckoning and not a stage for political theatre.

He elaborated by saying that principled leadership and organisational discipline were the reasons Afrika Mayibuye was able to remain independent of those involved. Political watchers have pointed out that the Movement stands out in a crowded field where long-standing parties are all dealing with reputational issues stemming from fundraising and governance problems.

To justify its stance, the party claims it is a component of a larger renewal initiative to eradicate systemic corruption and restore ethical governance. Listen to an in-depth conversation between Cde Prince and NCT Member Skeem GP, where further information on the party’s approach to the Commission are unpacked, as Shivambu urges the public to do, and members and supporters are invited to monitor developments attentively.

Afrika Mayibuye aspires to be the vanguard of integrity-driven politics and believes that the moment when truth-telling is brought before the Madlanga Commission would be a watershed moment for democratic accountability.
