A disciplinary hearing has found Gregory Wayne Adams, chief executive of the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority, guilty on several charges related to over R1.2 billion.
The verdict, delivered on Tuesday, follows a forensic audit and a disciplinary process that began after Adams was suspended in 2022. The hearing, chaired by Advocate Lindi Nkosi-Thomas at Afsa Chambers in Sandton, found Adams guilty on charges two, three, four and seven.
The findings include that Adams unauthorisedly increased the Joint Education Trust’s discretionary grant from R2.6 million to R7.4 million, and failed to exercise oversight that led to irregularly concluded funding agreements, resulting in the massive irregular expenditure.
