Growthpoint Properties has announced a major R8-billion investment in the Cape Winelands Airport precinct, a landmark development set to reshape the Western Cape’s aviation and tourism sectors.
The property giant co-owner of the V&A Waterfront will co-develop and manage logistics, hospitality, and commercial facilities within the 450-hectare site.
Once completed, the airport is projected to create more than 100,000 jobs and become one of South Africa’s first major green aviation hubs, powered largely by renewable energy.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with first flights scheduled for 2028. The project forms part of a broader drive to boost regional connectivity, investment, and infrastructure in the Western Cape.
