ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has condemned AfriForum for what he calls attempts to “resuscitate a matter long investigated, reviewed, and closed” by South Africa’s legal authorities.
Mbalula Fikile said the NPA, Parliament’s Ethics Committee, the SAPS, and the Public Protector had all examined the issue and found no unlawful conduct on his part. He accused Afriforum
of running a “sensational trial through media leaks” driven by a “vindictive agenda.”
He warned that “the abuse of the law for propaganda purposes undermines democratic institutions” and said he has instructed his lawyers to take steps to protect his rights.
Mbalula said he would make no further public comment on the matter.
