Floyd Shivambu’s Village Speaks Out Saying They Will Stand By Him No Matter What

A quiet village in Limpopo is fast becoming the epicenter of political attention after its most prominent son, Floyd Shivambu, hinted at forming a new political party. On Thursday, the former deputy president of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) announced he would embark on a national consultation campaign to assess public appetite for a fresh political movement. The announcement has stirred emotions, particularly in his home village of Mahonisi, outside Malamulele.

Residents there are not just watching from the sidelines — they are vocal in their support.

In a video clip circulating on social media, community members of all ages could be seen offering messages of encouragement, expressing pride in Shivambu’s political resilience. For many, his possible breakaway symbolizes more than just a political shift; it is a moment of empowerment for local voices long overshadowed by mainstream narratives.

“We are proud of him. He is one of us and has never forgotten where he comes from,” said an elder in the village, adding that Mahonisi would “stand behind him” no matter what political flag he decides to raise.

Shivambu’s departure from the EFF, where he served with distinction for over a decade, shocked many political observers. However, insiders suggest the rift had been growing for some time, driven by disagreements over internal leadership processes and ideological direction. While Shivambu has not officially confirmed his resignation, his nationwide consultation suggests a strategic repositioning is already underway.

Political analysts believe that if Shivambu launches a new party, it could capture a segment of the electorate hungry for youthful, uncompromising leadership that speaks directly to bread-and-butter issues.

The coming weeks will be crucial. Will the consultation tour reveal the momentum he needs to launch a serious campaign, or will it expose fractures too deep to mend? One thing is clear: Mahonisi is ready, and the country is watching.
