The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has resumed, with Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo, the divisional commander for Crime Intelligence, taking the stand.
His testimony is expected to address the power struggles within the top leadership of the South African Police Service (SAPS), a central theme of the commission’s investigations.
Previous witnesses have alleged that suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya overstepped their legal authority. The commission is examining these claims as part of its broader mandate to probe allegations of criminality and political interference in the criminal justice system.
