Senior ANC Leader Calls for Protests as Ramaphosa’s Court Case Nears

A senior member of the African National Congress’s (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) has called on supporters to protest outside a courthouse, alleging bias in the upcoming case against President Cyril Ramaphosa. The official urged followers to “show her flames,” a rallying cry that highlights the deep divisions surrounding the case.

The case, known as the Phala Phala matter, involves accusations of misconduct at the President’s private farm. The controversy has sharply divided public opinion in South Africa. Some argue that only a transparent judicial process can resolve the issue, while others warn that organized protests could escalate tensions and undermine the legal process.

This call to protest reflects growing public frustration and a demand for accountability. However, it also increases the political stakes, with the potential to influence public trust in the country’s justice system and its leadership.

As the case moves to the courts, the outcome is seen as pivotal. It will not only impact President Ramaphosa’s future but could also significantly affect the nation’s confidence in its democratic institutions.
