A Limpopo police officer and two alleged accomplices have been arrested for an armed robbery at a Giyani spaza shop. According to authorities, the off-duty officer and one suspect were caught at the scene, while a third fled but was later arrested in Xikukwani Village. The officer’s state-issued firearm was found in his vehicle. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate tragic incident near Lebowakgomo, a man shot and killed his wife before wounding a neighbor who tried to intervene in their domestic dispute. The attacker then turned the gun on himself, dying at the scene. The injured neighbor was hospitalized, and police recovered a firearm and spent cartridges.
The two unrelated cases highlight violent crime concerns in the province, with one involving alleged criminal conduct by a law enforcement officer.
