Ndlozi Warns of “Dangerous Times” as Democracy Faces Alleged Plot

Former EFF MP Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has raised alarm over what he describes as an active conspiracy to undermine South Africa’s democracy. In a stark warning, Ndlozi stated: “The dangerous times have arrived! The long-planned clandestine plot to collapse the democratic project has now taken public form.”

The political analyst pointed to recent developments involving Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi as exposing what he believes are hidden anti-democratic forces. “Mkhwanazi’s actions have forced these agents into the open, revealing the plot’s contours,” Ndlozi asserted, suggesting the general’s revelations have disrupted powerful interests.

Ndlozi urged South Africans to look beyond surface-level details: “The Devil isn’t hiding anymore – he’s out in the open.” He specifically referenced the work of the Political Killings Unit, claiming it had angered remnants of the apartheid-era power structures who never accepted democratic transformation.

“These networks are retaliating,” he warned. “They intend to fulfill their plan to dismantle our democracy.”

The remarks come amid growing national concerns about political violence, corruption in security structures, and institutional instability. Ndlozi’s intervention adds to escalating tensions about potential threats to constitutional order, with his language evoking memories of South Africa’s struggle-era rhetoric about “third forces” undermining liberation.

While not specifying evidence for his claims, Ndlozi’s warning reflects deepening polarization in South African politics, where competing factions increasingly frame political conflicts as existential threats to democracy itself. The former EFF spokesperson’s statements are likely to intensify debates about the resilience of the country’s post-1994 political settlement.
