MK Party Denies Floyd Shivambu Joining Claims, Warns Against Fake Statement

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Women’s League has disowned a viral statement claiming that EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu has defected to their party, calling it a “fake and misleading” attempt to spread disinformation.

The unsigned document, which carried the MK Party’s logo and purported to welcome Shivambu into the movement, has been dismissed as fraudulent. In an official response, the Women’s League clarified that no such announcement had been made by the party or its structures.

“A Deliberate Attempt to Cause Confusion”
“The circulating statement is fabricated and meant to destabilize our movement,” said Women’s League spokesperson Thuli Khumalo. “We urge the public to disregard it and rely only on official party communications.”

The denial comes amid heightened political speculation following reports that Shivambu was considering leaving the EFF due to internal tensions. While the EFF leader has remained silent on the matter, political analysts suggest the fake release could be a tactic to amplify divisions within opposition ranks ahead of the 2026 elections.

MK Party Gains Momentum Amid Shifting Loyalties
The MK Party, backed by former president Jacob Zuma, has been gaining traction as an alternative for disenchanted ANC and opposition voters. However, the Women’s League emphasized that the party remains focused on disciplined growth and will not tolerate impersonation of its structures.

“We will not be distracted by these tactics,” Khumalo added. “Our mission is to build a legitimate movement for the people, and we will take legal action against those spreading falsehoods.”

As the political landscape continues to shift, all eyes remain on whether Shivambu—or other high-profile figures—will make any major moves in the near future. For now, the MK Party maintains that the rumored defection is nothing more than a hoax.
