The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has announced a year-long series of nationwide lectures dedicated to former President Jacob Zuma. Secretary General Floyd Shivambu revealed the initiative during a press briefing on Saturday, stating that the events will be held in all nine provinces to reflect on Zuma’s political contributions, leadership, and vision for South Africa.

Shivambu described the lectures as both an educational effort and a mobilization strategy to solidify Zuma’s place in the country’s political history. “These gatherings will highlight President Zuma’s role in the liberation struggle and his work in shaping post-apartheid South Africa,” he said. “They will also correct misleading narratives about his legacy.”

The announcement comes as the MK Party continues to dispute the results of the 2024 general elections. Shivambu reiterated claims of electoral fraud, alleging that votes intended for the party were unlawfully diverted. “We have verifiable proof that our support was undermined through manipulation,” he stated, vowing to pursue legal and political action.

Since its debut in the 2024 polls, the MK Party has emerged as a vocal opposition force, with Zuma remaining a central figure in its messaging. The lecture series underscores the party’s strategy to maintain visibility while reinforcing its allegiance to the former president, whose influence persists among his base.

Public reaction to the announcement has been mixed, with one supporter praising Shivambu’s approach, while critics view the initiative as an attempt to rehabilitate Zuma’s contested legacy. As the MK Party moves forward with its plans, the lectures are expected to spark further debate about Zuma’s impact on South African politics.
