Ndlozi Compares DA and FF+ Actions to Zuma’s Tactics Amid GNU Tensions

Former EFF member Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has echoed criticism against the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Freedom Front Plus (FF+), accusing them of undermining President Cyril Ramaphosa in a manner similar to past political maneuvers. His comments come as former President Jacob Zuma reaffirms his continued affiliation with the ANC, despite leading the MK Party.

In a strongly worded statement, Ndlozi said, “The DA and FF+ are pulling a Zuma on Ramaphosa.” He added, “I remain an ANC member, and I also lead the MK Party. The GNU is not in a good state.”

Eish 😂… @llutladi says to me: The DA & FF+ are pulling a Zuma on Ramaphosa. I’m a leader of MKP and an ANC member at the same time. 😂

It’s bad there in the GNU 😂

— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 7, 2025

Ndlozi, who is no longer active in frontline politics, was reacting to tensions within the Government of National Unity (GNU) after the DA and FF+ voted against the national budget. The move has rattled the coalition, raising doubts about its stability and the sincerity of its partnerships.

Despite sharing governance responsibilities with the ANC, the DA and FF+ have consistently opposed key policies, particularly on transformation, land reform, and fiscal spending. ANC insiders view their budget rejection as a breach of the foundational agreements that formed the GNU.

Ndlozi’s remarks reflect growing frustration within and outside the ANC. “You can’t be in government during the day and fight it at night,” said an ANC National Executive Committee member. “This is political dishonesty.”

The DA has defended its stance, arguing that its opposition to the budget is based on principle and economic responsibility. The FF+ has echoed this sentiment, stating it will not support decisions it believes threaten South Africa’s long-term economic stability.

As GNU partners struggle to bridge ideological divides, the coalition’s future appears uncertain. With the MK Party gaining influence and ongoing political shifts since the elections, the stability of the GNU remains in question.
