“Justice for Kamogelo”: Pretoria Family Seeks Answers After Woman’s Brutal Murder Following Night Out

The grieving family of Kamogelo Monkwe is pleading for witnesses to come forward after the 24-year-old Pretoria woman was found murdered under horrific circumstances following a night at Zanzou Club in February.

Monkwe was last seen alive in the early hours of February 9, 2025, at the popular Pretoria nightspot. Days later, her brutalized body was discovered along a highway, with forensic reports indicating torture and gunshot wounds. The shocking nature of her death has sent ripples through the community.

Despite being laid to rest on February 15, the case remains shrouded in mystery. Disturbingly, friends who accompanied Monkwe that night claim to have no recollection of her final hours or potential encounters. This lack of critical information has left investigators struggling to piece together her last moments.

“We’re begging anyone who might have seen something that night to speak up,” a family spokesperson told reporters. “Kamogelo deserves justice, and we can’t rest until we know what truly happened to our daughter.”

The case highlights growing concerns about women’s safety in nightlife spaces, with gender activists calling for:

  • Enhanced security at entertainment venues
  • Faster police response to missing persons cases
  • Better lighting and surveillance in high-risk areas

Gauteng police confirm the investigation remains active but have not named any suspects. Crime Stoppers has established a dedicated tip line (08600 10111) for information related to the case.

As the Monkwe family continues their painful wait for answers, their tragedy has become a rallying cry against gender-based violence, with community members planning a night vigil outside Zanzou Club this weekend to demand safer spaces for women.
