In a devastating accident, 24 people have lost their lives following a head-on collision between a bus and a commercial truck in Limpopo. The crash occurred approximately 10 kilometers from the Beitbridge border, a key crossing point between South Africa and Zimbabwe. The bus was traveling from Zimbabwe to South Africa, while the truck was transporting magnesium to Chirundu.

The impact of the collision was catastrophic, with 17 fatalities confirmed at the scene. Seven others, who sustained severe head injuries, later died in the hospital. Over 30 people were injured in the crash, with 12 reported to be in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses have criticized the emergency response, describing it as slow and inadequate. Social media footage of the aftermath has gone viral, drawing widespread attention to the tragedy and raising questions about road safety and emergency preparedness in the region.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The incident has cast a somber shadow over the Beitbridge border area, a busy transit route for travelers and goods between South Africa and Zimbabwe. As families mourn the loss of loved ones and survivors fight for recovery, the tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for improved road safety measures and emergency response systems.
