President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a cabinet reshuffle, reassigning Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Thembi Simelane to the Human Settlements portfolio.

This move comes amid growing calls for Ramaphosa to take action against Simelane following revelations about her alleged involvement in financial misconduct. Reports surfaced that Simelane had accepted a loan from a company that benefited from the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank during her tenure as mayor of Polokwane. At the time, the Polokwane municipality had reportedly made substantial deposits with the bank.

The reshuffle marks a significant response to the public and political pressure surrounding the controversy.

1. Mmamoloko Tryphosa Kubayi, currently the Minister of Human Settlements is appointed the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development.
2. Thembi Nkadimeng, currently the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development is appointed the Minister of Human Settlements
3. Phumzile Mgcina is appointed the Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. Mgcina has been serving in the national executive as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment.
4. Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala is appointed the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour. Ms Nemadzinga-Tshabalala has been serving in the national executive as the Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.
