  • Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, has shared the emotional and mental challenges she’s faced on her journey to the international stage.
  • The beauty queen, born to a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother, overcame identity challenges in pageantry, initially competing in South Africa before being crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, representing Taraba State.
  • With a lifelong dream of competing in Miss Universe, she sees this as a victory for herself and a moment of pride for Nigeria and Africa.

Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, Chidimma Adetshina, recently opened up about the mental and emotional challenges she has faced on her journey to the Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for November 17 in Mexico. In a heartfelt video on her social media titled, *“my mind says I’m tired, I can’t do it anymore, but my heart is saying don’t give up”*, Adetshina expressed both the hardship and fulfillment she feels on this path.

“This journey hasn’t been easy for me mentally and emotionally. The tears, the pain, the trauma,” Adetshina revealed. “The days I felt like giving up, the days I felt unworthy and undeserving. However, I refuse to let anyone or anything dim my vision.”

Her journey to Miss Universe has been unique and challenging. After initially entering the Miss SA pageant, Adetshina faced questions around her identity, ultimately withdrawing. However, she found her opportunity in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she won the title representing Taraba State.

She shared that her dream of walking the Miss Universe stage began in 2017, and seven years later, it is coming true. “Win or not, I am so proud of myself and filled with so much joy and fulfillment,” Adetshina said, “I envisioned this moment, and I’m about to make it a reality. This achievement is not only mine but it’s for Nigeria; it’s for Africa.”

As Adetshina’s moment in the spotlight approaches, she continues to share her journey with supporters, from breathtaking photos to updates on her preparations, reminding her fans that their encouragement fuels her resilience and pride.
