“Pay Back The Money” Comes Full Circle: Julius Malema Losing Party Members After Zuma’s Tea Visit

Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has once again found himself at the centre of political speculation. An X user recently made a series of opinionated claims suggesting that Malema, who once led the charge against former President Jacob Zuma, may now be facing political consequences of his own. The user recalls the time when Malema fiercely opposed Zuma, pushing for his removal from office with the now infamous “Pay Back The Money” campaign, referring to the controversy surrounding Nkandla.

According to the claims, Zuma turned the tables on Malema with a strategic meeting over tea at Nkandla. This private meeting between the two political figures, which took place in 2021, has been the subject of much intrigue and speculation. The user hints that what seemed like a reconciliation over tea may have actually set in motion the challenges Malema is now facing, particularly the alleged exodus of party members from the EFF.

The EFF has been a disruptive force in South African politics under Malema’s leadership, often challenging the ruling ANC and positioning itself as a voice for radical change. However, recent developments, including reports of key party members leaving, have raised questions about the party’s internal cohesion and Malema’s leadership. The user’s post adds another layer to this narrative, suggesting that Zuma may have outmanoeuvred Malema during their Nkandla meeting, setting the stage for Malema’s current difficulties.

While the full extent of the party’s internal issues remains unclear, Malema’s declining support base is becoming a topic of interest among political observers. The possibility of Zuma’s involvement in these developments adds a historical dimension to the unfolding political drama, given their long and tumultuous relationship.
