The Senzo Meyiwa trial continues to unfold with significant developments regarding the health of accused number one, Muzi Sibiya, and the complications surrounding witness testimony.

During the latest court session, Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu was reported to be unwell, prompting Judge President to inquire about his return. Sibiya responded that he was unsure when Mngomezulu would be back, adding that Mngomezulu had informed him of his health issues. The ongoing absence of Mngomezulu has raised concerns about the trial’s progress, leading to its postponement until Monday.

In a related matter, Advocate Charles Mnisi expressed frustrations over the process of summoning witness Gininda. Mnisi noted that Gininda had initially agreed to testify but now seemed to prefer writing his exams before appearing in court. “It’s concerning that we are facing such delays,” Mnisi stated, emphasizing that Gininda should have communicated his exam schedule earlier.

Advocate George Baloyi countered that he had prepared heads of argument on why Gininda’s testimony is crucial for the case. However, Mnisi accused the prosecution of ambushing the defense, questioning the timing and appropriateness of the request.

As the trial progresses, the dynamics between the defense and prosecution remain tense, with critical testimonies hanging in the balance. The court is set to reconvene on Monday, where further developments are anticipated.
