The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) has announced its backing of Democratic Alliance (DA) candidate Cilliers Brink in the upcoming Tshwane mayoral election, set for Wednesday. The ACDP’s support comes after the DA confirmed its decision to re-nominate Brink, who was ousted as mayor earlier this year.
ACDP Chief Whip Thabang Moshidi emphasized that their endorsement of Brink is rooted in a desire to improve service delivery for the residents of Tshwane. “We believe in stability and continuity for the people of Tshwane,” said Moshidi, noting that the ACDP’s decision is focused on governance and addressing key issues such as water, electricity, and waste management.
Brink, despite being removed from office in a motion of no confidence, remains a central figure in the city’s political landscape. The DA’s decision to put his name forward again reflects their confidence in his leadership.
The mayoral election has attracted widespread attention, with political parties, including the ANC, jostling for influence in Tshwane’s governance. As the election approaches, the DA will need support from smaller parties like the ACDP to secure a majority and return Brink to office.
