Jacob Zuma has called on his supporters to maintain respect and avoid using insults in political discourse. Speaking to a crowd of loyalists, Zuma emphasised the importance of meaningful and constructive engagement in politics, urging them to steer away from personal attacks and derogatory language.

“Politics is not about swearing or insulting people,” Zuma said during his address. “You must have respect and engage in deep, meaningful discussions — that’s what makes a seasoned politician.”

His remarks come at a time when political tensions in South Africa remain high. He acknowledged the charged atmosphere but reminded his followers that engaging in respectful and thoughtful dialogue would better serve the country.

The former president has been a controversial figure in South African politics, with his legal battles over corruption charges casting a long shadow over his political career. Despite this, Zuma continues to enjoy strong support from his loyalists.

In his speech, he noted that heated debates and disagreements are natural in politics but called for a higher level of discourse. Zuma’s words were welcomed by many of his supporters, who expressed their agreement with his call for civility in political engagement. However, some critics remain skeptical, pointing out that Zuma himself has been at the centre of divisive political controversies.
