President Cyril Ramaphosa is on Friday officiating over the repatriation and restitution homecoming ceremony of South African freedom fighters who passed away in Zambia and Zimbabwe during the apartheid era.
The remains of 42 liberation heroes and heroines were received at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Centurion on Wednesday. They include former ANC secretary-general Duma Nokwe, former PAC leader Letsholo Edwin Makoti and renowned journalist Todd Matshikiza.
The repatriation and restitution homecoming ceremony forms part of Heritage Month. A further seven bodies are expected to be returned after undergoing DNA testing.
