Research suggests that happiness can contribute to weight gain, but not directly. When we’re happy, we tend to indulge in comfort foods and socialize more, leading to increased calorie consumption. Happiness can reduce stress, which may lead to increased levels of the hormone ghrelin, stimulating appetite. However, it’s essential to note that this weight gain is often associated with a healthier relationship with food and a more balanced lifestyle. Happy individuals may also be more likely to engage in physical activities, offsetting potential weight gain. A balanced approach to happiness and health is key.
