Kaizer Chiefs marketing manager Jessica Motaung was left in tears after Amakhosi lost 3-2 to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby on Saturday, 9 March.

The two Soweto Giants faced off during their second encounter of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season at a fully-packed FNB Stadium.

A THRILLING MATCH ENCOUNTER

Chiefs came into the match on the back of a confidence boosting 1-0 win against Durban-based Golden Arrows on Tuesday, 5 March. On the other hand, Pirates had been held to a 1-1 draw by Cape Town Spurs.

The thrilling encounter saw the Buccaneers coming from behind twice as Ashley Du Preez beat an offside trap before scoring the opener in the sixth minute. However, Pirates scored 18 minutes later as Monnapule Saleng beat Bruce Bvuma to level matters.

Before halftime, The Glamour Boys found the back of the net once again as Du Preez scored a brace when he fired home a volley.

Sadly for Chiefs fans, their lead was over and The Sea Robbers were back level in the 57th minute when Thabiso Lebitso scored a cracker.

Pirates took the lead 10 minutes later when Saleng also secured a brace with his second goal of the afternoon.

The win moved Pirates to second on the log standings behind runaway log leaders and defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns. Meanwhile, Chiefs remain in seventh position.

JESSICA MOTAUNG CAN’T HOLD BACK THE TEARS AFTER CHIEFS LOSS

Not only did Chiefs’ loss break the hearts of its supporters around the country, it also resulted in heartbreaking scenes as Jessica Motaung cried at the stadium.

In a video circulating on social media platform X, Motaung can be seen wiping her tears from her face and bowing her head while carrying a young girl in her arms.
