A Tshwane police officer shot her 40-year-old husband four times after he reportedly pointed a gun at her during an altercation in Akasia

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) reported that the husband succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The 44-year-old sergeant has been arrested.

“During the scuffle, the husband was hit four times,” Ipid said.

In a shocking incident in Akasia, a female police officer shot her 40-year-old husband four times after he allegedly pointed a gun at her during an altercation. The 44-year-old sergeant, employed by the Tshwane police, found herself in a harrowing confrontation with her spouse, resulting in the fatal shooting.

According to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), which is handling the case, the husband sustained serious injuries from the gunfire and tragically succumbed to his wounds while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation remain under investigation, with IPID seeking to unravel the events leading up to the fatal shooting. As the investigation progresses, the female police officer has been arrested in connection with the incident.

IPID provided initial details, stating, “During the scuffle, the husband was hit four times.” The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and underscores the complexities involved when law enforcement officers become embroiled in domestic disputes. As the investigation unfolds, authorities will be tasked with unraveling the full extent of the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
