Jouberton, 2 December 2023 – A shocking revelation has been made that an illegal Mozambican foreigner, who goes by the name of Issa, is still working at the Jouberton Police Station in Klerksdorp as a SAPS officer, despite being exposed as an illegal foreigner last year.
According to sources, Issa was hired by the Jouberton Police Station in 2019 as a constable, without proper verification of his identity and nationality. He claimed to be a South African citizen, but his documents were later found to be forged. He was also accused of being involved in corruption and criminal activities, such as extorting money from immigrants and selling drugs.
Last year, a local media outlet exposed Issa as an illegal foreigner, and reported the matter to the Department of Home Affairs and the SAPS management. The Department of Home Affairs confirmed that Issa was an illegal foreigner, and issued a deportation order against him. However, the SAPS management failed to take any action against Issa, and he continued to work at the Jouberton Police Station as if nothing had happened.
This has raised serious questions about the integrity and accountability of the SAPS, especially in the North West province, where the Jouberton Police Station is located. How can an illegal foreigner work as a SAPS officer, and get away with it for so long? How can the SAPS management ignore such a blatant violation of the law and the SAPS code of conduct? How can the public trust the SAPS to protect and serve them, when they are harbouring and protecting an illegal foreigner who is allegedly involved in crime?
The sources also revealed that Issa is not the only illegal foreigner working at the Jouberton Police Station. There are several other illegal foreigners who are working as SAPS officers, clerks, and cleaners, using fake or stolen documents. They said that the Jouberton Police Station is a haven for illegal foreigners, who are recruited and protected by some corrupt SAPS officials, who benefit from their illegal activities.
The sources have called for an urgent and thorough investigation into the matter, and for the immediate removal and prosecution of Issa and all the other illegal foreigners working at the Jouberton Police Station. They have also called for the suspension and disciplinary action against the SAPS officials who are responsible for hiring and covering up for the illegal foreigners.
The SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, said that he was not aware of the allegations, and that he would look into the matter and respond accordingly. He said that the SAPS does not tolerate any form of corruption or criminality within its ranks, and that anyone who is found to be guilty of such offences will face the full wrath of the law. He also urged anyone who has any information or evidence of the allegations to come forward and report it to the SAPS or the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
