Pitso Mosimane, the renowned South African coach, has indicated a higher likelihood of returning to coach a national team rather than a club if he decides to come back to the African continent.

This statement comes amid persistent rumors linking him with the Kaizer Chiefs coaching position. Speaking during a virtual press conference with the South African Football Journalists Association (SAFJA), Mosimane mentioned potential interest both at home and with national teams.

However, he expressed caution regarding the prospect of coaching a club on the continent, emphasizing that it wouldn’t be an easy decision. Mosimane, currently on a managerial break after parting ways with Al Wahda in the UAE, highlighted the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in January as a short-term possibility.

He also mentioned ongoing World Cup Qualifiers after January as another potential point of interest. When discussing future moves, Mosimane emphasized the importance of the right opportunity and clarified that while he is the head coach, decisions are made collectively with his trusted technical team.

This team includes assistant coach Maahier Davids, physical conditioner Kabelo Rangoaga, match performance analysts Kyle Solomon and Musi Matlaba, and goalkeeper coach Hamad Alyami.

Mosimane’s statement regarding potential interest in coaching national teams aligns with his focus on meaningful projects rather than rushing into a club role. He also emphasized that decisions within the technical team are not solely up to him, illustrating a collaborative approach.

While Kaizer Chiefs rumors persist, Mosimane’s cautious and selective approach suggests that any future coaching role, whether at a club or national level, must align with his vision and the right set of circumstances. The uncertainty regarding his next move keeps fans eager to see where the respected coach will land in the future.
