Pitso Mosimane, the esteemed former coach of Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, has revealed that he is in no rush to secure a new job, emphasizing the importance of spending Christmas with his family.

Mosimane, 56, departed from Al Wahda in November, marking the shortest stint in his managerial career after just 10 games with the United Arab Emirates side.

In an exclusive press conference with the South African Football Journalist Association (SAFJA), Mosimane shared insights into his current priorities and approach to potential job offers.

The decorated coach highlighted the significance of understanding a team’s vision and project before committing to a new venture.

“We need to know what’s the team like, what do they want, what do they expect us to do, and what’s the vision,” Mosimane explained to SAFJA. “Then we start to say ‘ok, that’s interesting. It’s a good project’. The vision of the team also is important.”

Mosimane dismissed the notion of hasty job applications, emphasizing that the decision to join a new club is not solely about immediate employment.

He expressed confidence in his ability to secure a position quickly if desired but underscored the current priority of spending quality time with his family during the festive season.

“I also just want to spend Christmas at home (laughs). Let me see my children, have Christmas, let me have food at home,” Mosimane articulated. “When I’m back from my holiday, just before Christmas, eight to 10 days… I just don’t want to disturb that space of eight to 10 days before Christmas, and Christmas to New Years Eve.”

While acknowledging the possibility of swift reemployment, Mosimane outlined the conditions for an immediate return to coaching, stating, “To move now it must be a very, very big urgency. It must be worth that I must cancel the holiday with my children and spend Christmas away from home.”

The seasoned coach’s decision reflects a balanced approach to his professional and personal life, with a keen emphasis on aligning with projects that align with his vision and goals.
