Before he became famous for snatching a phone at a Freshers Ball at Wits University, Maleka was a social media sensation for other reasons. His life took a sad turn, however, when he was caught up in a CIT theft and killed by the police.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still being pieced together, but we do know that Kgomotso “Gootso” Maleka was one of four suspects in a CIT theft. These high-stakes crimes have become an increasing concern in South Africa, posing considerable hazards to both security personnel and the public.

The cops had to intervene in this tragic situation to prevent further injury or loss of life. Maleka and the other suspects were killed in a shootout with police, which had disastrous results.

Many people in the area are upset by the revelation that Maleka was involved in this horrible incident. It’s a sobering reminder that people who engage in illegal actions like CIT heists frequently have few options when challenged with law enforcement.

The police investigation will attempt to paint a more complete picture of what transpired before the shooting and assess the suspects’ level of complicity in the CIT heist as additional evidence becomes available.

Kgomotso “Gootso” Maleka’s untimely death highlights the significance of addressing the reasons of criminal behaviour and the necessity of taking steps to prevent persons from turning to a life of crime. Heists involving CITs are a serious threat to public safety and necessitate a multipronged approach to solving the problem.
