Other people think that academia has no business in politics and that practical experience is what’s needed to make good laws. On the one hand, there are some who think their leaders should have college degrees, while on the other, education has no place in politics. There are valid arguments on both sides of this debate.

Even the most uneducated people have shown they can get to the position of politician and enact good laws. [Footnote required] Having a graduate degree, though, has its perks. The value that one places on themselves and their own abilities, as well as their capacity for independent thought, all increase as a result of their educational attainment. There’s little doubt that many voters favor political candidates with higher levels of education. The political leadership of our country benefits greatly from having a large number of highly educated people at the helm. Among the top five countries in the world, the following rank highest in terms of educational attainment:

Five. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong:

Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore’s current prime minister, has a stellar educational background and is highly regarded as a global leader. He received the President’s Scholarship and the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship from the Public Service Commission in 1971. Using these awards, he was able to study mathematics at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University awarded him a master’s degree in public administration in 1980. The year he graduated was 1980.

Angela Merkel, Position 4

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry and worked as a professor before entering politics in 1989. Merkel worked in the Berlin-Adlershof branch of the Academy of Sciences’ Central Institute for Physical Chemistry from 1978 to 1990. In that location, she did research and study.

Manmohan Singh, M.D.

The former Prime Minister of India, D. Manmohan Singh, has a Master of Arts in Economics from Punjab University. After thereafter, in 1957, he graduated from St. John’s College, University of Cambridge with a Tripos in Economics. He enrolled in Oxford to pursue a doctorate degree in 1960. (DPhil).

Rouhani, Hassan 2.

Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s former president, received his early training in Islamic theology. He attended the University of Tehran from 1969–1972, where he earned a BA in Judicial Law. After there, Rouhani went on to Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland, where he completed his Master of Philosophy in Law in 1995.

(1) Guthrie Thomas Jóhannesson

The current President of Iceland, Gudmundur Johannesson, has a remarkable resume. He studied politics and history at the University of Warwick, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree. He attended the University of Iceland and graduated with a master’s degree in 1997. His master’s in history from St. Antony’s College at Oxford University was awarded to him in 1999.
